Five Copywriting Formulas Every AI User Should Know

Copywriting frameworks have gotten complicated with all the variations and acronyms flying around. As someone who has written conversion-focused copy for years before AI tools existed, I learned everything there is to know about these formulas. Today, I will share it all with you.

AI writing tools produce better results when you guide them with proven copywriting frameworks. These formulas have driven conversions for decades, and teaching them to your AI dramatically improves output quality.

AIDA Formula

Probably should have led with this section, honestly. Attention, Interest, Desire, Action. This classic structure grabs readers with a compelling hook, builds interest through benefits, creates desire with emotional appeal, and closes with a clear call to action. Ask AI to write content following AIDA and you will get persuasive copy that flows logically toward conversion.

PAS Formula

Problem, Agitation, Solution. Start by identifying the reader’s pain point, intensify the consequences of inaction, then present your solution as the answer. This framework works exceptionally well for sales pages and email sequences where you need to motivate action quickly.

Before-After-Bridge

Paint a picture of the reader’s current frustrating situation, show them the transformed state they desire, then bridge the gap with your product or content. That is what makes this framework endearing to us copywriters — it creates powerful emotional contrast that makes solutions feel necessary rather than optional.

The Four U’s

Useful, Urgent, Unique, Ultra-specific. Headlines and subject lines that incorporate these elements consistently outperform generic alternatives. Prompt AI to generate copy that hits all four criteria and you will see measurable improvements in engagement.

Feature-Advantage-Benefit

Transform product features into compelling copy. State the feature, explain its advantage over alternatives, then describe the tangible benefit to the customer. This framework ensures you are always connecting capabilities to outcomes that matter to buyers.

When you prompt AI with these frameworks, you are essentially programming it to follow patterns that professional copywriters have refined over generations. The combination of AI efficiency and proven formulas produces conversion-focused content at scale.
